The one industry we had is now shut down, sent the trade to china, everyone with a decent job, drives 20 or more miles. Nothing for kids to do to stay out of trouble. No clothing or shoe shops and no McDonalds. LOL

Wednesday is our 31st wedding anniversary. We've had a few downers, but mostly it's been good. At times I wasn't sure I still wanted to be married, but I'm glad I found my head and pulled it out of my, well nevermind. Better half is a hard worker, provided for our rug rats until they were old enough to fly the coop and he loves me no matter how many infractions I may have.
Anyway, he (better half) is taking me to California. Woo Hoo! Oh but I suppose I should mention that he's taking me In an 18-wheeler. LOL He has a delivery there on Friday the 3rd and probably will be there over the holiday weekend before he gets a load out and back this direction. I imagine the majority of the warehouses will be locked up tighter than a maximum prison, until Monday. Thank goodness his company pays some dang good layover pay. See this smile? :-)
So we're leaving out tomorrow to get tangled up in all that, I imagine, road construction. I don't know about Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, but Missouri & Illinois sure have had a beaucoup bunch of that stuff going on. Good grief Gerty and Holy cow, but yesterday we came out of Chicago and it was literally bumper to bumper traffic all the way and it wasn't even rush hour traffic, just road construction. One lane shuts down and the whole damn city goes crazy. The traffic backs up for miles and miles and miles and no one knows what turn signals are, or how to be courteous and let someone in or not be a PIG about things and EXPECT an 18-wheeler to stop on a dime. Seriously...it's a dog eat dog situation in Chicago all the time! Oy Vey!
Keep hoping I'll get lucky and win the lottery, the big one you know? Gee, what I couldn't do with a few million dollars. Well, really... I could do a lot with a few thousand or even a few hundred, but I can always wish in one hand and well you know...
Youngest one purchased him a 2006 Suzuki Reno 4-door hatchback. It's the next thing to new inside and out and only 25,000 miles. It's a 5 speed, full power everything, cute as a bugs ear and such a pretty blue, well wait... here's a picture.
Suppose I'd best get laundry finished, better half has been mowing the yard (an every weekend thing), weed eating, spraying the cows and now he's fertilizing the trees and shrubs. We have some magnoila trees that are just gorgeous, have had them for about 3 years now and darn the luck, every time they are almost ready to bloom, we're on the road and don't get to see them in all their beauty. :-(
It's been quite a week with all the celebrity deaths. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and then today Billy Mays (Oxi Clean infomercials)
Supose we all have to go sometime, but so many in such a short time is just downright profound.
Here's wishing y'all a great week... especially skyrat and that daughter of hers in Missouri. :-)
“Marriage is a wonderful invention: then again, so is a bicycle repair kit. ” ROFLMAO!

What do you tend to worry about in the middle of the night?
I worry about the better half, kids & grandkids. Also I worry about how I'm going to stretch $800 worth of bills out of a $700 paycheck, even though I've been doing that for almost 31 years

What is the most valuable lesson your father taught you? Bonus points if you show us your dad
To respect myself and not expect things to be handed to me on a silver platter. If I wanted something I had to go out and work for it. He also taught me the value of a dollar.

Happy Father's day to all you Dad's out there.
I lost my Daddy to cancer in August of 1987. I still miss him a whole bunch. If I had my guess, he's probably looking down and wondering why things are so messed up in the world, like they are today. He's probably even saying a few curse words to add to his wondering too.
Dad and I were next to inseparable when I was a kid. I know a few of my decisions he didn't like, but perhaps him being Dad, he dealt with them like I did with his decisions that I didn't understand all the time. I was a big tomboy and I know Daddy wanted me to be a girlie girl, but I'd just as soon have a dirty old grease rag hanging out of my pocket, climbing a tree or hunting for rabbits and squirrels, then put on a dang frilly dress and a pair of shoes. Needless to say Daddy set me down more than once and gave me a talking to about what a little girl was suppose to act like. At any rate, my Daddy was the greatest Dad ever and even on those days when he didn't approve/like or like some of my actions, I know he still loved me.
So Daddy, just know that even though you aren't here in person today on this Father's Day, you're thought about and missed a great deal. I love you Daddy, Happy Father's Day.

Would you rather have one best friend or ten acquaintances? Why?
I would rather have that one best friend because anyone can pretend to be a friend, those anyone's usually come in multiples too, but it takes that special someone to be that one best friend. That one person who sees past the not so good times and days and accepts you just as you are!

It was short, it was sweet and much needed. Of course like all vacations, they don't last near long enough. We knew this one would be short, so it made everything we did, that much more enjoyable. We weren't able to take in all of the Trail Ridge drive in the Rocky Mountain National Park like we wanted to. They had received about 20 inches of snow in the upper mountains early that morning and the road was closed. But we were able to drive in another direction and saw lots of elk grazing. The mountains themselves are just magnificent and just takes your breath away. Simply gorgeous with their snow caps and the plush green of the pines and bright yellow of the aspen against the blue sky... awesome in every way! Strange to be down in the foothills with the air-conditioner running and then suddenly, you take a couple of turns and there's snow all over the road.
Bought a $2.00 Powerball/with power play and won $16.00. Could make a deal like that everyday. :-)
We stayed in Goodland, KS Wednesday night, next morning drove on into and through the Rockies, stayed in Denver Thursday night. Up on Friday morning and heading back, after taking in some off the road places that were strange but all the same, enjoyable. Stayed in Topeka, KS on Friday night, then up on Saturday morning and drove on home. It really is nice to be back home, but of course spoiled in not having to cook and clean and do laundry and all that domestic stuff. But I transgress... since I am a domestic goddess, I will do the domestic stuff with a smile on my face and a feather duster in my hand.
Better half was feeding the cows and watering the garden, he just came in and wondered if I wanted to go eat at this fantastic Chinese place. Well yeah... I mean, eating out means not having to cook. What dummy would turn that invitation down? Not this one. So we're off to the bigger city, to chow down on some sweet and sour chicken, eggrolls and some kind of sesame chicken something or other. That's all I like, I'm not into those root things, or that raw shrimp/fish stuff. Just the breaded basic stuff, thank you very much.
Catch you later... off to stuff the face.

Would you ever want to be a model? Why or why not?
Yeah, I'd like to be a model for like Lane Bryant, Roman's (plus size) catalog. So you could truly see what an outfit, pair of slacks, etc., looked like on a pleasingly plump woman. These anorexic women they have as models, you know... they are built like a brick (crap)house with all the bricks in the right places, well they do no justice to the actual look of an outfit on us large ladies. 'Nuff said!
