Our baby son is getting married in September, praise be to the God's above! No more picking up after, putting up with his "stuff" or handing out a chunk of dough until his payday arrives. He's finally settled down and found his soul mate. Am I sounding sarcastic enough?
Well... They both are so much alike, I only hope things work out, you know us mom's... we worry about our babies. These two are something else, I just can't get this feeling out of my mind that it's not going to be the bed of roses they might think it's going to be. Neither one has really had any responsibility, short of a car payment and insurance and only the son is employed right now. Just not sure how long things will work out with her lying in bed of a morning while he's off to work. She's got education, she's not a ding-a-ling, but be damn if she'll go look for a job. Yes, I know... not to many out there on the market now, but she's got this getting up and sticking to problem. She graduated from beauty school, but her certificate hangs on the wall because every "shop" wants a boat load of upfront money to get started at their business. She's been doing a bit of babysitting and home health care, but that only pays a few bucks. A few bucks more than she had, but by the time she puts gas in the car, eats breakfast and lunch, it's gone.
They just rented an apartment, small but it's good for a starter and the price isn't over their head. But now she's talking about a phone, cable and Internet and I'm thinking... fine and good, but you know you're going to have utility bills now along with rent and lest you forget... you are not working. Yes, I'm staying out of it, but still doesn't keep momma here from wantin' to say something I know I'd regret later.
Oh well.. suppose will let things be and keep my fingers crossed that they both can put up with each other as long as better half and I have (31 years), through good and bad. :-)
Finally the baby is leaving the nest... just hope the ground isn't too far down.
Wow gf - I would not have recognized the young man if I had seen him on the street! He has grown up. But then, haven't they all????? Congratulations on the forthcoming marriage.
